Do you ever feel like you need to take a nap during the summer season?
I sure do, more often than any other time of the year actually.
I guess it’s because of the heat,
or maybe it’s because I’m more active during this season and I’m using up more energy.
Never the less, a mid-day snooze is just the trick to re-energize me for the rest of the day.
Now ask anyone I know and they will tell you, I can just about fall asleep anywhere.
It doesn’t matter if there is noise all around me.
If I feel the urge to close my eyes for a bit, that’s just what I’ll do.
Sometimes I can’t help myself.
I’ve been known to conk out in the middle of a long drawn out wrestling tournament in a hot stinky gym while yelling and whistles are going off all around me.
(Aw memories of my sons’ sporting days are coming back to me now.)
(Those were good times, I mean what I can remember when I wasn’t napping.)
(I watched their rounds! I may have snoozed during the loooooong waiting time in between matches though.)
I can even recall conversations of worried friends asking others, ‘Is Jerri okay?”
“Oh yeah, she’s fine, she can just sleep anywhere.”
But anywhere is not my favorite place to catch a few zzz’s.
Oh no, it isn’t.
My favorite place to lay my weary head is my sweet and precious bedroom.
I mean that’s like a glimpse of heaven to me.
The walls are painted this ever so soft blue and the ceiling is this creamy dreamy white.
Then there is this ceiling fan that gives me a slight cool breeze.
(I’m sorry but I’ve gotta have a ceiling fan in my room.)
I don’t care if it isn’t the cutest light fixture or not,
it’s very necessary for a good night’s sleep on a hot summer night.
The furniture is sparse because I need to tell you
that while I live in this cute ol’ farmhouse,
the bedrooms are very small people.
As small as your youngest child’s nursery like bedroom.
But that’s ok, less clutter to distract me from my lovely slumber time.
The décor too is simple and clutter free.
A dear friend shared with me what a dear friend shared with her
that decorating your bed room with things that remind you of you and your hubby is good for your marriage.
Keep the treasured children pictures that are so dear to us in another wonderful room.
That way the bedroom is a real sanctuary for you both.
I also like to keep the bed linens in cool tones
that way it’s always reminding me of the sky,
as if I’m floating on a cloud when I hop into bed for dream land.
Not much sand do these eyes need to drift off let me tell you.
If you’re thinking about redecorating your bedroom,
I hope you can create a space that’s dreamy and breezy
just right for you to escape to that wonderful abyss we call sleeping.
(or napping, whichever you prefer)
XO Jerri
Ahhhhh. So pretty. I think I know who those dear friends are. 😉
I thought you might. XO
Hi Jerri!
Where did you find the armoires next to your bed? I love them!
Aren’t they soooooo cool! Well, they are hand me downs from my mother and father in law. Yep, Dark stained oak from the early 1990’s. We just painted them an off white and sanded them here and there like our coffee table. We even kept the old hinges and knobs because when we were done, it started to look cool instead of dated like it looked originally.
I absolutely love them! I love the vertical storage. I, too have small rooms and storage is a valuable commodity! I never thought of putting something tall in place of a side table. Great ideas!
Oh I love them Karen! It was all my husband’s idea. He really is the master mind when it comes to storage and reorganizing rooms.
