Oh I love the outdoors!
I love it in all seasons really.
Boy this summer has been great with all of the fresh fruits and veggies, herbs growing in the garden, the sun shining down on you, and jumping into cool water to refresh you when things get a little too hot.
What’s not to love?
It’s all good except when everything starts getting a little old and tired looking and in need of a change.
Ah, and then just in time, a breath of fresh cool, crisp air arrives and here comes fall.

I usually don’t even know I’m sick and tired of summer until fall arrives and I’m like,
“There you are, I’ve been looking for you!”
Yep, waiting and longing for the change of seasons that turns all of the glorious greens into shades of amber and gold.
Mmmm, it’s just so beautiful!
And everything that was vivid and bright slowly turns muted and has more of a soft glow.
So lovely.
It doesn’t happen overnight, well at least in California it doesn’t, no it’s ever so slight, and before you know it, you’ve eased into this spectacular season of earthy colors and sun dried goodness.
We end up spending a little more time indoors, however, so we don’t miss that outdoor summer lifestyle that we all love so well, it’s nice to bring those outdoor elements in for a little fall garden inspiration.
And then, when fall starts withering away into winter, I’m completely prepared for the barrenness of it with all of it’s stark, bare wood branches and such, because I still have a little of the garden goodness around me as I make my way through day to day.
Some of my favorite garden elements to bring inside during fall is the Magnolia leaf of course.
I just love how the rich green leaves start to fade and turn brown right before our eyes through the fall season.
Whether it’s a wreath or a garland, it is beautiful to me.
I love to use things that are right here on our farm like the many pine cones we have.
I’ll just sprinkle a few here and there for now, because I use them a lot more in winter.
Adding a candle to this coffee table hydrangea and pine cone wreath
really cozy’s up our whole living room with it’s glowing amber light.
I love to use hydrangeas that have lost their pink, white, or blue color and have faded to a muted sage green with little bits of gold in them.
They’re like fall confetti just waiting to be celebrated.
But before I highlight the beauty of the pumpkin in mid season, I have to celebrate the sweet and delicious tasting and looking apple.
Let us not forget the apple people.

All and all, I’m ready for fall to start with all of it’s sage green, golden, and earthy kaleidoscope of colors that will inspire me during this autumn season while it warms my heart and sings to my soul.
